Although by no means a 1-girl gang, 2025 Chillicothe High School softball Lady Hornets junior pitcher Landry Marsh proved hard for Savannah to handle when she batted in this past Monday’s championship game of the Class 3 District 8 Tournament at Excelsior Springs. About to clout a low pitch hard and far over the left-center field fence for a 3-runs home run in the second inning, Marsh went three for three at bat with three RBI, three runs scored, two walks, and two stolen bases. In the bottom of the ninth inning, her second walk and second steal set up Hayden Hansen’s long single to deep left-center field to score the game-ending run in CHS’ 6-5 victory. After a slow start pitching, she also shut out Savannah over the final five innings to buy time for her team to get the winning run that sent Chillicothe into state-tournament play Saturday.
