SAVANNAH, Mo. — The all-seniors defensive backbone of the 2019 Chillicothe (Mo.) HS soccer Lady Hornets bulwarked the team’s fourth win in its last five matches Thursday, a 1-0 triumph at Savannah.
What is believed to have been a non-conference clash between Midland Empire Conference members saw third-year starting goalkeeper Kennedie Kieffer extend her CHS-record career shutouts total to 21. It is the fourth bagel she and classmates Elli Ross, Kaylee Lewis, Devin Dowell, and Sidney Baxter on the back line in front of her have posted in 2019.
At the opposite end of the experience spectrum, the match’s only goal was fired home by freshman Lucy Reeter. No assist nor time for her team-leading seventh goal was reported by head coach Shannon Grable. Reeter had netted the last three tallies of Chillicothe’s home win over St. Joseph: Benton in its preceding match.
The CHS soccer Lady Hornets (4-2) next are to visit Hannibal on Monday, with action starting at 5 p.m.
