More than 1,000 athletes, members of their families, and fans – the vast majority from out of town – congregated in Chillicothe's Simpson Park on a hotTuesday (Sept. 10, 2019) for the 16th-annual Chillicothe Invitational high school cross country running meet
The annual Chillicothe (Mo.) Invitational high school cross country running meet for 2019 took place in hot, but shade-aided, conditions Tuesday in the community’s Simpson Park. With a couple of dozen schools bringing just over 300 junior-high and senior-high school-level runners, almost-certainly over 1,000 persons from out of town came to Chillicothe for the 16th-annual local race.
Although overall final results specifics (team point totals and individual times) were not available before press time for this edition, team champions and the top 10 individual finishers at the junior-high/middle-school and junior-varsity and varsity high school levels were recognized at the end of the competition. Kirksville’s boys and Moberly’s girls were the respective varsity gender-division champions.
