Stolen Motorbike Tracked Through Three Cities and Recovered with Help from Determined Father

CHILLICOTHE – A motorbike stolen from a child in Chillicothe earlier this year has been recovered, thanks in large part to the determination of the victim’s father and strong support from the community. The Chillicothe Police Department (CPD) confirmed the recovery and stated that the investigation remains active.

The theft occurred back in February in the 200 block of Clay Street. According to authorities, the case gained momentum in June when the boy’s father reached out directly to Chillicothe Police Chief Jon Maples with information he had gathered on his own. In an unusual twist, the father reportedly tracked the stolen motorbike across three different cities, personally locating and speaking with three individuals who had possessed it at different points.

Police say they assisted the father during the final step of the recovery effort, though specific details surrounding the operation and location of the bike have not been released. Investigators are continuing to pursue leads, and potential criminal charges are still under review.

While the names of those involved have not been released, the father credited the community for playing a key role in the search. He shared that the outpouring of support—especially through social media—made a significant difference. “I can’t thank everyone enough who shared the post, who reached out every time they saw a bike that looked like my son’s,” he said. “I’m just happy he finally got it back.”

The CPD has not released information regarding any suspects as the case remains under investigation.
