Press release for July 8

3:12 a.m., Officer responded to the 1000 block of Fair Street for a report of stealing. The victim stated someone had stolen their bicycle. The investigation is still on-going.

6:24 a.m., Officers responded to a business in the 1100 block of Walnut Street in reference to a subject trespassing. The subject was advised to leave the premises and not to return.

6:46 a.m., Officers responded to the 300 block of JFK in reference to a theft from a vehicle. There was no forced entry and the owner advised several credit and debit cards had been taken. It was found that the suspect had attempted to use these cards at various websites and locations. The investigation is continuing.

8:36 a.m., Officer performed a funeral escort for a local business.

9:15 a.m., Check well-being of a subject in the 1400 block of Webster Street.The subject determined okay and going to stay with relative.

10:04 a.m., Officer speaking with a local business that suspect had tried to phone scam by having merchandise delivered that had not actually been paid for. No report.

11:03 a.m., Officer took a delayed report of an accident that occurred at the intersection of Calhoun St, and Elm St.Parties had exchanged information.

11:19 a.m., Officer out in the 800 block of S. Washington Street on a continuing investigation.

11:57 a.m., Officer at the police department on a fingerprinting detail.

12:04 p.m., Officer at police department taking statement from subject reference to a previously reported theft.

12:40 p.m., Residential alarm in the 2300 block of Thompson Drive. False alarm. Residence secure.

12:53 p.m., Officer out at courthouse for court duties.

1:02 p.m., Officer out in the 600 block of S. Washington Street on a continuing theft investigation.

1:24 p.m., Officer speaking with subject in reference to a complaint of subject doing business with no city license.

1:31 p.m., Officers took report of theft of tools from a truck that occurred between July 3-6 while parked in the 500 block of N. Washington Street.

2:23 p.m., Officers received a report of a protection order violation and arrested a 40-year-old subject for the violation. Subject was processed and transported to Daviess/DeKalb County Regional Jail.

2:23 p.m., Officers were dispatched to 300 block of Elm Street for a burglary and theft report. Investigation is continuing in this case.

3:05 p.m., Officer out in the 1400 block of Clay Street on a follow-up investigation.

3:43 p.m., Officer and Animal Control out in the 1000 block of Elm Street checking animal well-being. No report at this time.

3:51 p.m., Officers out at residence in the 1100 block of South Street on what was determined to be a civil issue. No report.

4:08 p.m., Officer out at courthouse for court duties.

4:50 p.m., Officer out at business in the 600 block of Jackson Street on an investigation.

4:51 p.m., Officers responded to the 10 block of Cherry Street to a possible disturbance. Determined to be a Civil issue over subject moving out of residence.

7:17 p.m., Officer transported prisoner to Daviess/DeKalb County Regional Jail.

7:54 p.m., Officers checking well-being of subject in the 1700 block of Locust Street. Obtaining a room for subject at resource center.

10:24 p.m., Fireworks reported at Jackson and Woodward Streets. Officers unable to locate anyone shooting fireworks.

12:12 a.m., Officers responded to a report of burglary and theft in the 10 block of Clay Street. The owner of property advised an unknown person entered a camper and removed an electronic item from the camper without the owner’s consent.

7:27 a.m., Subject brought a cell phone to the police departement that they had found in their yard in the 100 block of Calhoun Street.

7:57 a.m., Officer performed a motorist assist at the Junction of U.S. Highways 36 and 65.

8:38 a.m., Officers took an accident report at the intersection of Washington Street and 3rd Street. A southbound semi-truck pulling a trailer, caused minor damage to the trailer and to a light signal cover while making a right turn onto Third Street. Information was obtained and Highway Department was advised.

9:38 a.m., Officer out at courthouse on court duties.

9:42 a.m., Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Herriford Street to a report of a subject having anxiety issues. The subject requested to receive medical assistance and was transported to Hedrick Medical Center.

10:24 a.m., Officer at police department on fingerprinting detail.

10:43 a.m., Officer performed a funeral detail for local business.

11:16 a.m., Subject in the police department with questions on possible protection order violation. Officer spoke with the subject. No report at this time.

11:40 a.m., Officer taking report of a theft of a cell phone from mail delivered to an address in the 800 block of Walnut Street. Investigation continuing.

1:04 p.m., Officer responded to Cricket Wireless located at 619 South Washington Street in reference to a report of theft of a cell phone from a display. Investigation continuing.

3:25 p.m., Officer speaking to subject on phone to subject having issues with a neighbors pet defecating in their yard. The subject was advised of options.

3:50 p.m., Officers responded to Chilli Bay Water Park in reference a juvenile subject causing problems. The subject was contacted and advised that he was to leave and not return for the rest of the season.

8:11 p.m., Fireworks complaint on Dorney Drive near Fair Street. Officers unable to locate.

8:27 p.m., Call from subject with questions about restrictions on UTVs and ATVs. Officer spoke with subject.

9:13 p.m., Fireworks complaint in the 1100 block of Second Street. Subjects contacted and stopped from discharging any further fireworks.

9:40 p.m., Report of a subject having anxiety issues having walked away from a residence in the 1400 block of Webster Street. Officers checked different locations in an attempt to locate the subject , but were unable to locate them.

10:01 p.m., Fireworks complaint in 300 block of Cherry Street. Officers made contact with subjects and they were advised to stop.

11:10 p.m., Officers were requested to provide assistance in an investigation, by another law enforcement agency. The request was checked on with negative results. The requesting agency was notified.
