A couple of C-T coverage area schools are entered in a tournament to inaugurate the 2021 portion of their high school basketball seasons.

Meadville and Norborne are among the eight schools entered in the Jan. 4-9 Salisbury Invitational tourney.

Meadville’s girls, despite the C-T area’s most wins to date (seven) and a 7-1 overall record, are seeded only fourth in their gender division. The host Lady Panthers are the top seed, followed by South Shelby and Norborne. Norborne’s girls stand 3-0 on the season after defeating Hale/Bosworth Tuesday, but have not faced any substantial opponents yet.

The boys’ division has Meadville (5-3) as the No. 3 seed behind Cairo and Salisbury. Carrollton is the No. 4 pick.

Meadville’s Eagles, like the Lady Eagles, will start the tourney with a rematch with season-opening victim Glasgow, which uncharacteristically is struggling this season. The girls’ game will be Monday, Jan.4, at 7:30 p.m. The boys’ will be Tuesday, Jan. 5, also at 7:30.

Norborne’s girls have Carrollton as their first-round foe. The 7:30 p.m. contest will be in Salisbury’s “old” or south gym.kThe boys will take on top seed Cairo Jan. 5 at 5:30 p.m. in the “old” or south gym, as well.
