NCAA Bracketology: Where Mizzou basketball would be seeded today

Missouri men's basketball is on the doorstep of returning to the NCAA Tournament.

After not making March Madness since 2017-18 — coach Cuonzo Martin's first season in Columbia — the Tigers are in prime position entering February.

We've compiled a list of where Missouri is projected to be seeded and what opponent it could play in a first-round NCAA Tournament game.

According to Bracket Matrix, Missouri is listed on all 86 online NCAA Tournament projections it could find, with an average seeding of 4.24.

The entire NCAA men's tournament is scheduled to take place in the state of Indiana, with most games being held in Indianapolis, which was scheduled to host this season's Final Four before the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Here's where the Tigers are currently projected to play their postseason opener: 

ESPN's Joe Lunardi: No. 4 seed vs. No. 13 seed Belmont (automatic qualifier from Ohio Valley Conference). Second-round matchup would be against winner of Kansas vs. Winthrop. No. 1 seed in the region is Gonzaga.

Andy Katz: No. 4 seed vs. No. 13 seed Vermont (automatic qualifier from America East Conference). Second-round matchup would be against winner of Kansas vs. play-in team (Maryland or Seton Hall). No. 1 seed in the region is Villanova.

Bleacher Report: No. 4 seed vs. No. 13 seed Western Kentucky (automatic qualifier from Conference USA). Second-round matchup would be against winner of Texas Tech vs. Wright State. No. 1 seed in the region is Gonzaga. 

Sports Illustrated: No. 5 seed vs. No. 12 UAB (automatic qualifier from Conference USA). Second-round matchup would be against winner of Florida State vs. Winthrop. No. 1 seed in the region is Gonzaga. 

College Sports Madness: No. 3 seed vs. No. 14 seed Northeastern (automatic qualifier from Colonial Athletic Association). Second-round matchup would be against winner of Minnesota vs. Syracuse. No. 1 seed in region is Villanova.

CBS Sports: No. 2 seed vs. No. 15 seed UC Irvine (automatic qualifier from Big West Conference). Second-round matchup would be against winner of Creighton vs. Oregon. No. 1 seed in region is Gonzaga.

Stadium: No. 4 seed vs. No. 13 seed Belmont (automatic qualifier from Ohio Valley Conference). Second-round matchup would be against winner of Oklahoma vs. play-in team (Richmond or Utah State). No. 1 seed in the region is Michigan.

FOX Sports: No. 3 seed vs. No. 14 seed Liberty (automatic qualifier from Atlantic Sun Conference). Second-round matchup would be against winner of Kansas vs. Indiana. No. 1 seed in region is Villanova.

SB Nation: No. 3 seed vs. No. 14 seed Siena (automatic qualifier from Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Second-round matchup would be against winner of Minnesota vs. North Carolina). No. 1 seed in the region is Michigan.
