Pet blessings offered in honor of St. Francis of Assisi
In honor of St. Francis of Assisi, a lover of all creatures, animals can receive blessings at 10 a.m., on Oct. 4, from Rosina Harter, Lay Worship Leader, and Amy Daniel, Senior Warden and Lay Worship Leader, at Grace Episcopal Church, during and immediately following the service.
“It’s been several years since we have been able to offer this blessing to pets in our parish family and to the community at large,” says Harter. “The past six years, we have concentrated on blessing the animals at the Forrest O. Triplett Animal Shelter.” The church is offering the blessing to the shelter animals this year on another date.
“What better way to show you love animals than to bring your pet to church for the service or just stop by at about 10:30 a.m., for the blessing?” Daniel said. “We do ask that animals be in carriers or on leashes. We will bless horses and other large animals on the grounds after the service. ”
This year, the church will be providing pet owners with a Certificate of Blessing for the pets they bring.
