Tina-Avalon FBLA new officers named

The Tina-Avalon Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter held their annual officer interviews Thursday, April 13. Interviews were conducted by Ronda Rucker, Math Teacher at Carrollton High School and Brittany Horine, Title 1 Reading Teacher of the Richmond School District. Members go through the interview process to show their dedication to the chapter and to prove that they are strong leaders. The interview process is also meant to help officers prepare for future interviews and careers while becoming strong leaders. After the interviews were completed, the panel discussed and selected a new slate of officers. The new officer team: President, Jaksyn Crowe; Vice-President, Tanner Singer; Secretary, Zoey Mathews; Treasurer: Madeline O’Neal; Historian, Alison O’Neal; Parliamentarian, Tyler Singer. One more interview to go for a final officer position.

Hornbeck to serve Nevada, Las Vegas Mission

Jacob Hornbeck, of Chillicothe, has been called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints. He will serve in the Nevada, Las Vegas Mission for 24 months. Hornbeck is the son of Leshel and Bradley Hornbeck. Jacob is a recent graduate of Brigham Young University. He received his bachelor’s degree in software engineering, with certificates in web design and computer programming. Jacob loves programming and building native Android apps.

Author event leads to creation of Writers’ Group

The Livingston County Library recently held a local author event with a lively and informative panel discussion. Authors represented a variety of genres and publication experience. Afterwards, the audience had a chance to meet with the authors individually. We want to thank our author participants in the symposium: Vila Gingerich, Harvey Harrington, Brenda Anderson O’Halloran, Julie Johnson aka JJ Clarke, Kirsten Mouton, Angela Poling and Ian Wilson.

Culture Club Sophomore Pilgrimage

Sophomore Pilgrimage was established by GFWC Culture Club of Missouri in 1934 to give recognition to students who exemplify high stands of Scholarship, Honor, Courage, Citizenship, Leadership and Service in the Sophomore class of high schools across Missouri. The Pilgrimage, held on the second Tuesday in April to the State Capitol in Jefferson City is sponsored by GFWC Clubs for students to observe the inner workings of state government, tour government buildings and to have lunch while hearing from top state elected officials.
